About

This blog is a rambling look at my life (Mom on a Line). I am learning to balance it all.  I have two amazing kids, one was born with severe congenital heart defects and other issues.  She has spent a ton of time in the hospital, had many surgeries, and we are constantly taking her to doctors' appointments, therapy sessions, and procedures.  If that is not enough, I also work full time as a litigator and have done so for years and years now.  For a fuller description of my family, read my entry Cast of Characters.

Our days start early.  Our nights end late.  We run and run and run throughout the day, but through it all, we get lots of hugs.  It is not easy, it is not always fun, but it is real and it is ours. I am trying to make it all work, along with my fabulous, amazing, wonderful husband. I am learning to walk the tightrope, hoping not to fall. Funambulism for Beginners.

P.S.
Funambulism is the fancy word for tightrope walking.

Having a child with a CHD is like being given an extra sense---the true ability to appreciate life. Each breath, each hug, each meal is a blessing when you've watched your child live off a ventilator, trapped in an ICU bed, being fed through a tube. Each minute is a miracle when you've watched your child almost die and come back to you.
